First Selectman
As a lifelong resident, I have chosen, with my wife of 34 years Cindy, to raise our two children Kristian and Bethany here in my hometown.
I recently retired as Business Manager and Financial Secretary of the Heat and Frost Insulators Local 33. My 38-year career has trained me in labor/management relations, which have included: collective bargaining agreements, employee relations, and working at the state capitol with our elected officials. Team building is one of my strongest attributes.Serving on the Board of Finance since 2014 has kept me informed about the financial structure of the town. Finding the correct balance between a thrifty mil rate while maintaining services has always been our challenge. But finding that balance between business, agriculture, and a competitive school district is a task we can achieve together.
Kathleen Smith-
Board of Selectman
Kathleen Smith spent her formative years in North Stonington at the Beriah Lewis Bicentennial Family Farm. She graduated from Assumption College with a major in Elementary Education and minors in Gerontology and Sociology. Kathleen and her husband, Jim, have lived in Lebanon for the last 32 years. Their three sons Beriah, Brandon, and Blake were raised here in Lebanon and proudly went through the Lebanon Public Schools..
For the past 33 years, her professional career has been dedicated to teaching 4th grade at Lebanon Elementary School. Kathleen’s commitment to student learning and school environment earned her the honors of District Teacher of the Year in 2000 and LES Teacher of the Year in 2015.
Kathleen’s involvement and understanding of our unique community began as she developed a unit of study on Lebanon’s history and government. From that point she has been building relationships with people in Lebanon and lending a helping hand whenever possible. This interest in Lebanon and its citizens led Kathleen to serve a full term on the Planning and Zoning Commission and service to the Parish Council at St. Francis of Assisi.
