Kathleen Smith

First Selectman

Kathleen has proudly called Lebanon her home for the past 37 years. She and her husband, Jim, raised their  three sons, Beriah, Brandon, and Blake in Lebanon where they attended Lebanon Public Schools. After growing up in North Stonington, Connecticut on her family’s dairy farm, and graduating college, she was excited to start her career teaching 4th grade at Lebanon Elementary School.  Kathleen and her husband both have deep roots in agriculture, so they were captivated with the beautiful rural character of Lebanon and built their home on East Hebron Turnpike.  Retired in 2023, Kathleen dedicated her 36-year teaching career to the children of Lebanon.  She was District Teacher of the Year in 2000 and LES Teacher of the Year in 2015.  Her dedication to Lebanon and its citizens moved beyond the schools when in 2013, she was elected to, and served 6 years on the Planning and Zoning Commission.  Since 2019, Kathleen has served on the Board of Selectmen.

As a Selectman, Kathleen has worked tirelessly with other boards, commissions, departments and residents to meet the challenges and serve the needs of all who call Lebanon home.  Kathleen has successfully built relationships and worked with others to move Lebanon forward while still embracing the history and agricultural landscape that provides Lebanon’s residents with the quality of life they enjoy. Kathleen has the skills, experience and commitment to serve the community best in the fulltime job of First Selectman.  With the support of the voters, Kathleen will continue to work hard to serve the interests of all Lebanon residents as First Selectman.
