Karen Ziel
Library Board of Trustees
Karen is recently retired. With over 30 years in ministry and education, she most recently served as the Assistant Director of The Center for Transformational Leadership of the Southern New England Conference, UCC. She has a degree in early childhood education and certificates in theology and resource development. During her career, Karen was the Director of the RD Resource Center, a specialized library where she managed and maintained a collection of print and media resources to serve churches throughout the state of CT.
Karen is a Justice of the Peace in Lebanon. In that role, she enjoys partnering with couples to create weddings for community members being married.
Karen and her husband, Phil have lived in Lebanon since 2012. She has 2 daughters and a grandson who keeps her busy. Karen enjoys genealogy research and history, reading, and music. She plays a bodhran and has been a member of several Irish and Scottish folk bands. Karen is an active volunteer in the community through First Congregational Church of Lebanon where she is a member. Karen has a keen interest in community and politics. She counts her first activity as accompanying her dad as he distributed flyers for President John F. Kennedy-long before she could vote!
